ABOUT ME

Welcome! I am an assistant professor in the Department of Government and Public Administration at the University of Macau.

I study Chinese politics and policy making. I use large collections of texts on legislative and policy processes in China to answer questions of how public policy is formulated and how policy power is shared in the regime. For my dissertation, I examine the political logic of ambiguity in Chinese national statutes. My other works explore drivers of bill change in the legislature as well as dynamics of policy coordination and policy diffusion in the party-executive. I employ a broad array of methodological approaches, including text-as-data, networks, interviews and process-tracing.

I received my Ph.D. in 2023 from Department of Political Science at University of California, San Diego. I hold an M.A. in International Relations and a B.A. in Public Administration from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
